We are delighted to be working with such an enthusiastic group of learners! We have been hard at work using our senses to observe our surroundings and different environments. Last week we made scientific observations based on single sensory inputs. We also observed different environments at school, such as the cafeteria, library, gym, and garden. We painted our ideal environments and have been adding sensory details to our reading and writing. We also read some wonderful books about our senses such as Jeremy’s Tail by Duncan Ball.
We are conducting experiments to determine how different environments affect plants and apples. Students made observations about their seeds and apple slices at the beginning in order to determine how different environments cause change.
On our field trip to Lacey Woods Park tomorrow, we will compare and contrast rural, urban, and suburban environments. We will continue to expand our exploration of environments by researching different ecosystems and investigating how humans and nature can change environments. We will also spend time learning about how senses can be improved with the use of specific tools such as hand lenses and binoculars and focus on how scientists use these tools in the real world.
We can't wait to see you at our Innovation Hour next Thursday, 7/28/16, from 10:00-11:00. Our kindergarten scientists are eager to show you what they've learned and created!
