It is crazy to think that Summer Laureate has already come to an end! We have been hard at work this week finishing our Pixie projects, animal research books, and learning all about Robotics and coding! On Tuesday, students participated in rotations where they were exposed to OzoBots (miniature robots!), created a robotic hand, and worked on Lego Robotics. They have also designed and created their own Robots - including a simple circuit! Take a look through our camera roll to get a glimpse of all the hard work and fun happening in 2nd grade!
We hope to see you tomorrow at the Innovation Hour from 10-11! Also- Remember to follow us on Twitter! @APSDrewPierce @Ms-McGonigle @MsRVanHoook It is hard to believe that we are already half way through Summer Laureate! We have been hard at work learning about the Human Body & Movement. Students created life size skeletons of themselves, stop-motion videos demonstrating skeletal movement, and have been learning about the muscular, nervous, and skeletal systems. This week, they have shifted their focus to animal movement. Students have chosen a specific animal to independently research. They are going to create their own Non-Fiction book and are also working on digital additions to compliment these. Next week, we will begin mechanical movement and create our own robots! Please remember to bring in recyclable materials on Monday.

Welcome to Summer Laureate 2016! We are excited to get started with challenging, thought-provoking, and concept based learning with your rising third grader this summer. The unit or “big idea” we will be focusing on is Motion & Movement. We will be studying human movement, animal movement, and mechanical movement during this time. We will be directly integrating technology into the curriculum, so please be sure to check our Twitter and website frequently for updates and a look into our classrooms! Reminders:
Thank you & we look forward to a great summer! Cindy McGonigle Maggie Pierce (@APSDrewPierce) Rebecca Van Hook (@MsRVanHook) Hashtag: #SL16 |
